The project manager will be responsible for keeping research, prototyping, and contract manufacturing projects on track in a product design and contract manufacturing firm. Products being developed range from consumer products, to medical devices, to rail and defense solutions.

Pay Rate: $25

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Define the scope of the project in collaboration with senior management
  • Create a detailed work plan which identifies and sequences the activities needed to successfully complete the project
  • Determine the resources (competitive quotes from vendors, labor time estimates, cost of materials, equipment, etc.) required to complete the project
  • Develop or assist in the development of a quote for engineering services or production services
  • Develop a timeline for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities
  • Review the project schedule with senior management and all other staff that will be affected by the project activities, and the customer; revise the schedule as required
  • Determine the objectives and measures upon which the project will be evaluated at its completion
  • Manage or help to manage project loading so all projects happening simultaneously are completed on time with the appropriate resources
  • Ensure that project files are properly created and maintained
  • Work with purchasing agent, accounting, and QA to qualify consultants and vendors, track costs, and keep projects within budget
  • Execute the project according to the project plan
  • Develop forms and records to document and mange project activities
  • Monitor the progress of the project and adjust as necessary to ensure the successful completion of the project
  • Establish a communication schedule to update stakeholders including appropriate staff in the organization and customers on the progress of the project
  • Review the quality of the work completed with the project team on a regular basis to ensure that it meets the project standards
  • Monitor and approve all budgeted project expenditures
  • Manage all project funds according to established accounting policies and procedures
  • Ensure that all financial records for the project are up to date
  • Conduct production meetings to set internal team priorities
  • Ensure that the project deliverables are on time, within budget and at the required level of quality
  • Evaluate the outcomes of the project as established during the planning phase
  • Run Time reports from time keeping program

Qualifications and Skills

Ideal but not required experience:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
  • Ability to see, read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the public
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram and schedule form

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; design software; CAD; order processing systems and project management software

Prior experience with medical products a plus
